Amazon.com First sequels are the true test of an enduring movie franchise, and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets passes with flying colors. Expanding upon the lavish sets, special effects, and grand adventure of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry's second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry involves a darker, more malevolent tale (parents with younger children beware), beginning with the petrified bodies of several Hogwarts students and magical clues leading Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint), and Hermione (Emma Watson) to a 50-year-old mystery in the monster-laden Chamber of Secrets. House elves, squealing mandrakes, giant spiders, and venomous serpents populate this loyal adaptation (by Sorcerer's Stone director Chris Columbus and screenwriter Steve Kloves), and Kenneth Branagh delightfully tops the supreme supporting cast as the vainglorious charlatan Gilderoy Lockhart (be sure to view past the credits for a visual punchline at Lockhart's expense). At 161 minutes, the film suffers from lack of depth and uneven pacing, and John Williams' score mostly reprises established themes. The young, fast-growing cast offers ample compensation, however, as does the late Richard Harris in his final screen appearance as Professor Albus Dumbledore. Brimming with cleverness, wonderment, and big-budget splendor, Chamber honors the legacy of J.K. Rowling's novels. --Jeff Shannon

Harry's back! August 11, 2010 Curtis Sharp (Mount Pleasant, Texas, US) Anyone who is a fan of Harry Potter in general and Harry Potter movies in particular will love this set. There's so much extra material that you'll need a special movie night to watch it all. Having the choice of the theatrical version or the extended cut is wonderful as well.
If you're interested enough in Harry Potter to check this out then I believe you could do no better than to get this set.
The drawback? We only get one a year after the release of one and two together.
so nice!! August 2, 2010 The part Harry Potter killed the snake was very exciting... I was scared that Harry Pooter could have died... It was very fun to watch this film.
Harry Potter Ultimate Edition July 19, 2010 SH I love it! It is worth the extra couple of dollars to buy new. I tried used with the 1st and 2nd edition but they were not complete, lax packaging, My new ones are
nice to collect.
Good Movie - Not my favorite June 30, 2010 Paige Blackwell (Kansas City) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Obviously, I love all the Harry Potter movies, this one included. After the book, though, there is SO much left out due to time constraints - plus, I'm not a big fan of bugs. Still is a great movie, and is one of the standards in my collection. It's fun and interesting to see the development of the actors since the first movie. They (the actors AND the movies) just keep getting better and better. Don't miss out on this one!
Simply Amazing! June 3, 2010 Julie Madison (Portland, Oregon, USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
You will never watch the non extended version of the films again once you own the ultimate editions. The uncut scenes fill in so much of the story that was in the books. The picture quality on blue ray is stunning. The bonus materials are fascinating for Harry Potter fans. The books included are beautiful. Simply amazing sets! It is a cherished item in my movie and Harry Potter collections.
