Product Description A man installs himself in a prison he designed to help his falsely-accused brother escape from death row.
Amazon.com After focusing on the breakout (season one) and the manhunt (season two), season three of Prison Break turns the concept on its head by throwing everyone involved with the show so far--fugitives, lawmen, villains--into the same prison. When we left off in season two's finale, Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell) had been exonerated of the murder for which he was framed since the beginning of the series, but Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) landed himself behind bars during the escape in Panama. It's no coincidence that he's placed in SONA, a remote place for the lowliest of criminals, along with his pursuers Agent Mahone (William Fichtner) and Bellick (Wade Willams), and fellow former inmate Theodore "T-Bag" Bagwell (Robert Kneppner), who naturally cozies up to the crime lord who rules the prison in an effort to move up in the ranks. The main premise of Prison Break this time around is Michael needing to break someone else out of prison for The Company, the crime network responsible for all nefarious doings on the show. The Company's rep is a homicidal, sneering assassin named Susan (sometimes Gretchen) (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe), who's holding hostage both Lincoln's son LJ and Michael's love Sara until Michael carries out his mission. The typically false starts, double-crossings, and man-that-was-close moments you'd expect to come from a series like this are all there, but this time around episodes feel scattershot, a far cry from the white-knuckle tension builder that was season one. Fichtner, who joined in the second season, is a standout as a pill-popping agent-turned-inmate in withdrawal who must now collaborate with the man he chased across the country. The new characters introduced don't have much purpose; the many plot twists (he's a good guy... no, a bad guy... no, wait, a good guy) leave you a little less motivated each time to keep tuning in, and the final straw is one main character's death early in the season (reportedly because of a contract dispute between the producers and the actor). Originally planned as a jolt to the series, it instead angered many fans who had been long awaiting a just payoff. This would later be rectified before the fourth season, but there's no telling how many Prison Break fans may have skipped town before then. --Ellen A. Kim

Still Fun, A Little Thin Though August 12, 2010 J. Etter (Ann Arbor, MI) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The "plot" kinda starts back at zero again with some of the main characters back in prison, this time in Panama. The season is very "small" in scope opposed to seasons one and two because it is primarily centered around only a few locations. The "Company" is still the problem, there is a prison to break out of and in standard "Prison Break" fashion. All the characters are thrust together because of overlapping wants, needs, desires, situations, etc. And of course in true Prison Break fashion there are a borderline unbelievable number of plot twists/things that go not as planned which sometimes borders on "OH, COME ON!" I don't want to describe it as "dummied down" in comparison to the previous seasons but it is not exactly complex. And disappointingly I find that some situations are not very realistic and some of the characters don't act true to their nature. I assume because the show is supposed to be rather PG. If some of the actors (good guys or bad guys) were to act in accordance with their personalities there would certainly be more violence and the writers would run the risk of demonizing some of the "good guys", but it would have added a whole new level of believability and another layer of complexity to each characters personality. And of course be more realistic. And one last thing, when watching the show I am constantly telling the characters to "Pick up their guns" after they neutralize the bad guys (lord knows they never kill anyone). It frustrates me to no end that these fugitives would leave firearms laying around without taking them when in most cases they don't have any and on top of that is there such a thing as having too many pistols/ammo when you are being chased by a super secret organization, "The Company" which is not shy about killing people? The answer is no. In conclusion, still fun to watch. Great value for the money and my wife enjoys it as much as I do so we get to have an episode or two of "Prison Break Date" most nights before the Daly Show comes on....so we can get the news:-)
sound quality an issue July 30, 2010 skiAN great show. audio quality of DVD is marginal. can hardly hear conversation that occurs, its an action show but it is nice to hear what the actors say.
Prison Break--an amazing series! July 5, 2010 ohwill15 Prison Break Season 3 is just as exciting and full of on-the-edge-of-your-seat moments as the first 2 seasons. Now the roles are reversed--Michael is behind bars in SONA while Linc is free and trying to help Michael escape. We are introduced to a few new characters, too--people we love to hate! If you're a Prison Break fan, you'll happily continue the journey with Season 3.
Another Great Season July 2, 2010 Michael A. Saxton (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
To start, I'd like to mention that this season is only 13 episodes, due to the writers' strike. That being said, I actually think it's still on par with the previous two seasons. Some say it seemed a little rushed but I actually think it may have been a bit too much to have an entire 22 or 23 episode season of breaking out of a prison in Panama that only has guards on the outside. They do a great job once again of keeping you on the edge of your seat with this one.
A lot more is revealed about "The Company" and the massive conspiracy, and of course, Burrows and Scofield find themselves neck deep in it. Some old faces and new alike with Scofield continuing to outsmart pretty much everyone makes this another satisfying and addictive season of Prison Break.
