Taped as a lavish cable television special in 1997, One Night Only trades on the Bee Gees' shape-shifting career as pop survivors. Over the course of 111 minutes, this straightforward concert, produced at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and groomed for both video and CD posterity, sprints through 31 songs from their past three decades. Even after the inevitable disco jokes are expended, and the jaundiced viewer contemplates the role hats, hairspray, and comb-overs now play in dressing the once stylishly long-haired troika, the Gibb brothers' signature vocal harmonies and hook-laden song craft beg respect. Casual listeners can't be blamed for equating the Bee Gees with the dance floor bonanza they reaped through 1978's Saturday Night Fever, yet that commercial zenith was actually the culmination of a comeback for a group that had seemed washed up by the early '70s. One Night Only thankfully takes an even-handed view of both their original late '60s hits ("Massachusetts," "To Love Somebody," "Lonely Days"), building from a cannily Beatle-browed vocal sound, and the '70s blue-eyed soul ("Jive Talkin'," "Nights on Broadway") that led them naturally into disco. The Fever hits are here, as are Gibb originals that clicked for other acts; the family circle also widens for a posthumous duet with their late brother, Andy Gibb, while Celine Dion gets star billing in the collaborative "Immortality." --Sam Sutherland

I purchased this for a friends birthday and watched it with him and it was outstanding!!! He is a HUGE Beegees fan and I like the Beegees to a certain degree and we both agreed that this concert was GREAT !!! They sounded amazing,just like the original recordings.Very talented guys and worth watching !

I bought this for a friend who has always loved the Bee Gees. The audio and video and wonderful!! Also, Celine Dion sings a song with them and she is great!! We have watched it over and over again! I am just amazed by the clarity of this DVD!! Also, they pay tribute to their brother, Andy. So hard to believe that 2 of the brothers are now gone. So sad to lose those voices.

I bought this video as a birthday gift for my wife who is a long time Bee Gees fan. It was her fav present and she really enjoys watching/listening to it. It has all her fav songs and sounds great.

For Bee Gee fans, this is a must have disk. The 3 brothers are there, front and center. Unfortunately, the falsetto or high note that the oldest brother has to hit for many of the songs is hard to do and he fails more often than not. This is not a major problem, as the Bee Gees are basically a harmony-brothers type group, and they achieve harmony on every note. I mention it in passing because purists who are used to studio productions, where acoustics are better and, more importantly, takes and re-takes are possible, might think these songs less than perfect. They are, but that is the trade-off we happily make to see a concert recording with live production.

We watched the Bee Gees - One Night Only on Netflix and liked it so well I decided to purchase it. Not only is the music great but the video and audio quality of this DVD are very good. We will listen to and watch this DVD many, many times in the future.
